My Amazing Recovery

Shalom Everyone,

I just wanted to fill you in on today’s breakthrough!

I was doing my normal cycling routine, but I didn’t quite have it today – I think I might be battling a cold (for me – a real battle!).

Whereas normally I would quickly get onto the tilt table for some energetic standing/power exercising, we took the time for range of motion stretches.

My physiotherapist began by twisting my hand into pronation (regular for you – but upside down for me) and holding….

Suddenly, I noticed a DEFINITE FLICKER in my 4th digit!

My physio was astounded! This was a case of new recovery!

Apparently, years after my accident, new vistas occur even where prior attempts have yielded no results.

But what practical use is there in having a flickering finger when somebody squeezes my wrist in an unnatural hold?

You see, this just might define a brand new frontier!

Because a flicker today may be a movement tomorrow!

And a movement tomorrow may be connected to another movement the next day!

And the end of this frontier just might be….

AN ABILITY TO PICK UP THINGS!!

Take today as an example….

I was at a kiddush in shul, and as usual, there were various pretzels and yummy chips. For a fleeting moment the thought crossed my mind, “how aggravating it is to wait for someone to hand me a few crunchy treats. If only I could turn over my wrist and pick up a couple.…

Frustration resolved!

And then, I began to think. This mirrors life itself.

When we make a small movement toward the performance of a mitzvah, it will lead us to a larger movement. Before you know it, we will be able to connect it to another movement. And after a while of growing and climbing upward, we will grow into completely different people!

Indeed, one tiny step in the right direction leads to a much larger stride. As our rabbis teach us, “Mitzvah Goreres Mitzvah (one mitzvah leads to another”).

Always keep at the forefront of your mind the significance of tiny steps. They may not seem like much today, but they will inevitably lead to bigger and greater things in your bright future!

  6. If you would bring your pet eskimo to the kiddish, he could hand you pretzels and yummy chips without you having to wait.

Why would anyone want to pet an eskimo?!

      1. For the warm and fuzzy feeling!

    2. I actually have many toys and pets – but I’m still looking for my very own warm and fuzzy Eskimo. Can you help me find one?
